                             Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a method of permanent hair removal where unwanted hair is removed from different parts of the body by using a laser.

When is it possible to perform the procedure?

At any convenient time for the patient, for example, during the lunch break, as the redness of the treated area is preserved only few minutes.

How should I prepare myself for the procedure?

It is necessary to prepare in advance. It is required to remove hair from the potential treated area 24-48 hours before the procedure; the hair length should not exceed 1 - 2 mm. The hair length must be like that because the laser beam must see the "target" (melanin) and act on it. Hair located at the skin surface is like an "antenna" which conducts a pulse of light to the follicle (origin of the hair) and destroys it.

What are the contraindications to the procedure?

There are not so many contraindications to laser hair removal:

  • pregnancy

  • oncological skin diseases

  • dermatological disease in the treatment area

  • inflammatory process in the body

How should I treat the skin after

                      laser hair removal?

It is prohibited to be exposed to sunlight for the

first 7 days. In the laser treated area it is

necessary to use a cream with SPF protection

level of 30 or more for 2 weeks.

How many procedures are necessary to remove the hair completely?

This process is quite individual; it is possible to speak only about averages from 4 to 8 sessions. These numbers depend on several factors like hormonal background of patient, treated area, the presence of endocrine diseases, hereditary factors, etc. After each procedure, the density of the hair is thinned out; the hair itself becomes thinner and lighter. It is not recommended to use depilatory creams, waxing or epilator in the treated area between sessions. The time interval between visits is 4-6 weeks that means when hairs on the surface of the skin start appearing again.
