                                           PEELING

Skin-resurfacing procedure

Skin peels are a very cost effective and powerful treatment for improving the look and feel of the skin.

Peels can be used on anyone of any age to treat conditions such as acne, scarring, hyperpigmentation and enlarged pores. They are also excellent anti-agers as they speed the turnover of cells (which slows with age) and stimulate elastin and collagen production, the skin’s main proteins (which diminish with age).

IBERIAMED Clinic employs the chemical peel technique to renew the skin layers with chemicals at three levels: superficial, medium and deep.

A superficial peel achieves a uniform skin tone and a rejuvenating effect, managing to close pores and reduce scars, acne and small wrinkles.

Thanks to a medium peeling, we can fight fine and medium wrinkles and blemishes caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight. This treatment is used very often as a complement to others.

Finally, there is a deep peel, a more aggressive treatment which requires a more complex and lengthy recovery process.

Peels can also vary depending on the peeling agent or chemical applied which includes the following:

Glycolic Acid : the most common peeling agent, used to treat fine lines, sun damage and results in better skin texture and brighter skin

Salicylic Acid : stronger and penetrates deeper making it ideal for acne and oily skin

Lactic Acid : less irritating and has natural moisturizers, ideal for pigmentation, dehydrated or dry skin and sensitive skin

Fruit enzymes : these acids have anti-bacterial properties, also ideal for acne-laden, dehydrated skin, and for hyper-reactive and sensitive skin types

Tartaric or malic acid : less irritating alternative for milder exfoliation

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA): a stronger acid for medium and deep peels, used for skin tightening, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, acne scars and pigmentation

Carbolic acid : the strongest type of peeling agent, used for very deep peels

Each of the sessions lasts 15 minutes and patients can resume their normal activities.

We will take care of you in a personalized manner, carrying out a preliminary evaluation of the pathology to be corrected to choose the best treatment in each case, determine the number of sessions and the necessary substances to obtain the desired results.
