ELIMINATION OF SKIN FORMATIONS

Nevus ("mole" or "birthmark") is a pigmented formation on the skin.

Nevus is a type of benign tumor and often its presence is absolutely harmless, but in some cases, a person may be required to do the procedure of removing it.

Nevus has different shapes, sizes and colours (from pink to dark red and brown), and may be either congenital (in children it can appear in the first year of life), or acquired due to various causes: hormonal changes, the presence of virus in the body, or due to the impact of external factors.

Nevus can be located on the face, all parts of the body, as well as on the mucous membranes.

When is it necessary to remove it?

There is a risk of degeneration of nevus and the occurrence of cancer. Under the influence of external factors, such as solar activity, or hormonal disorders, neoplasm can change the colour, size, begin to grow and eventually turn into a malignant tumor - melanoma. In this case, always in the agreement with the treating oncologist, you may need to remove the formation as a preventive measure.

Is there a risk of trauma?

If formation is located in such place as on the palms or soles where there is a high risk of damaging it, it makes sense to think about the removal. The injury of nevus can be not only painful, but also lead to severe bleeding, infection, its undesired growth and malignant transformation. Its presence has a negative impact on the physical appearance of person; it violates the aesthetics of the face or body, it causes the moral discomfort and reduces self-esteem. In this case, after receiving medical agreement and lacking the risk of subsequent degeneration of nevus, it may be removed.

                         How is the procedure performed?

In our center the procedure is performed by using fractional laser CO2. Before the procedure local anesthesia is performed, removal is quick and painless. After procedure nevus is sent to the laboratory for histological analysis.
